Hey don’t be sorry for asking something like that. Ok, I’m awful explaining my drawing methods (reason why I never did tutorials, I suck! XD) but I’m going to give a shot again! Hope it’s not confusing! *sweats nervously*
Ahem! So I start off by drawing the pony’s head. I follow the rest of the body through that. I draw the vertical and horizontal lines like for any other character so it can guide me when drawing the face.
Next to make the pony’s neck, torso and backside I first draw a line that will serve as a guide to make the shape of the body (the line from the middle).
After that I draw the guide lines for the legs, and then when drawing them I shape them like a cone as they reach the bottom.
And we have the body shape done! Now the face. I use the horizontal and vertical lines I did earlier as guides when I draw the snout and eyes. I draw slightly round cheeks instead of following the series style, but this is just my personal choice. You can go with the style you like most. Same for the ears, I draw oval shaped ears to make them sort of fluffy.
Now that the basic is done I advance to the next phase, and it depends of which pony I want to draw. In this case let’s go with classic Twilight Sparkle. 😉 Using the character’s design as reference to get the mane, eyes, horn and all that jazz done right. I don’t know how much more I can explain about this part… ^^”
After being done with the face I sketch the tail, and just like for the face I use the reference of the character’s design. That is, until I memorize it. XD And to finalize I use a ticker brush to pass over the definite lines, which I’ll use afterwards to make the cleanest outline.
And TADA! We’re done! Twilight got a bit taller, whoops! Anyways, I hope this small explanation/tutorial wasn’t confusing for you! 🙂
