I am wholly and totally convinced that the way Zootopia ended up being made into a full-fledged movie is that a bunch of closeted furries who work at Disney got together and wrote a story about their characters. One day they forgot to close the Word file it was all on, and when their boss read through it, rather than fess up, they saw an opportunity to make a big-budget movie about their fursonas, claimed it was an idea for a new movie, and ran with it.
