Of course you’ll never be as good as me. Only I can be as good as me, just like you can only be as good as you and no one else can be. That’s why comparing your art to more practiced artists isn’t really fair, because artists all have their own styles and methods that make them stand out as ‘good’ as they are. You can compare all you like to another artist but it’s not really fair to tell yourself you’ll never be someone you’re not.

Use better artists to inspire what you do now, and instead compare your work to what you’ve done in the past. The only way to see if you’ve really improved is to look back and see how much you’ve improved compared to your younger self, because as long as you try, you’ll always get better at being you.
