omg-snakes:

The final count (though she may yet have one more egg in there. I’m not sure if it’s egg or poo but we’ll see later today.) is 5 good eggs and 5 slugs.
Since this is Melanora’s first clutch ever, I’m not surprised at the low fecundity and I’m very proud of her. She’s relaxing comfortably and her body condition is excellent. She’s looking strong and healthy, unlike some females who look deflated or squeezed out after laying, and she’s bright-eyed and curious and not showing any signs of pain or stress.

In about 65ish days, we’ll be meeting the inhabitants of eggs 1-5.

So what do we do with eggs 6-10, which are unfertilized slugs that will not hatch?

Nothing goes to waste at the OMG Snakes house.

Also scored a week extension to my holidays today.

work is changing my swing, my options ended up being either I go back for a few days, then have 3 days off, before returning for the full swing.

or just extend my holidays for those few days instead.

I think the choice is  kind of obvious here..
End result, I’m off until June 13 now. which is good, just in time for my new niece/nephew’s birth too.

Picked up a couple of cheap shelves today which I plan to use for my chilli  plants.

They’re seriously cnn (cheap ‘n’ nasty) but at $49 each, if they hold together for a year, they’re doing well.
I don’t expect a lot from them, but it should do for a decent length of time, and will mean less sitting on the ground to harvest my plants.
