As some of you may already know, a group of us got together to reprint the Core deck with permission to have at cons so that we can keep the game alive. We researched into the most comparable company to print through in the amount of time we had, and also worked with Children of Kefentse to get an updated rule set so no one’s toes would be stepped on (it was a struggle but we got there and everyone was pretty happy once it was done… but a lot of work!). Our cores are near identical to the reprints that Horrible People put out in quality with those updated rulesets and a very minor change indicating it is fan-reprinted (little hearts in the corner – super cute!). We would have had a nice long-box too, using the original sources, but time constraints did not allow us to print… but I expect we will have storage available soon.
Much like the original model, core decks are only available at cons, but good news on that front, many from our group will be covering most cons throughout the year.
Many of these are tentative as the conventions have not released vendor acceptance yet, but I expect you’ll be able to find our group’s printing at these upcoming cons:
Crystal Fair, Nightmare Nights, Ciderfest, FillyCon, Running of the Leaves, Super Speedy Cidercon and potentially BronyCan.
Our group productionists include (in alphabetical order):
Boiler3/Hobbes Maxwell, ChocoPony, KawaiiPony, Kryptchild, Lunar Shine, Sweet Cream and Viwrastupr
Although I must also point out at this time that there are others outside our group that have printed it or their own and/or expansions. Which is fine, but please know what you are buying before you purchase. We put a considerable amount of time and effort into making the reprint happen and at a quality on par (if not better than the original source in cases) to the original game. This isn’t to say you shouldn’t buy to support others, but more of a warning that there are copies out there that are lackluster at best and while you can choose to buy it, they were not printed by us. We cannot attest to the quality. Please do not associate us with a bad printing when we actively look to bring quality. Be an active consumer. Ask questions, ask to handle the cards and see a sample. Does it feel the same? How is the cut? The craftsmanship? It is unfortunate that there are companies out there passing themselves off as game companies that do card printings that produce such low quality, but it happens. Long and the short of it is that if you want a quality copy, you may have to put a little effort into finding one, just as we put in the effort to produce them for the continued enjoyment of others to be able to play the game and keep TSSSF alive.
Thank you.
