A little tip because apparently this is an issue when it shouldn’t be:
When someone commissions you, and they have sent payment and you have made an agreement, then it is your job to complete that commission.
Yes, you have the right to refund at any time. Yes, you have the right to delay due to certain issues.
But that’s not the problem here
The problem here is, say you’re working on said commission for a long time, and then the file corrupts or you lose your work for some reason.
This does not mean you should just give up and never touch it again. This does not mean just because you worked hard means you can just keep the money and not do anything.
Your customer still hasn’t recieved their product and it is your job to be sure to hold up your end of the bargain.
And if for any reason you can’t or no longer want to?
It’s not your commissioner’s job to personally ask you for a refund to get their money back. If you are not going to work on that commission any more, it is YOUR job to let them know and it is YOUR responsibility to refund them the money they payed you.
I’m sorry this is out of context but a recent situation has really pissed me off.
