So this is here to just make a note about how hilariously wrong I’m going to be.
During the recent Steven Bomb we had the episode “
It Could’ve Been Great” where the gang go to the moon and Peridot explains about the amazing diamonds that control their society. We’re shown there are four diamonds, white, yellow, blue and pink but the pink diamond has been removed and we’re left with the three (see the SU wiki for more info).
Having a geologist for a partner means she pulls apart the meanings behind the skills and natures of the gems, the most obvious one that caught her eye after this episode is that pink diamonds can be mistaken for rose quartz, basically quartz with a red tint.
So here’s the theory, Rose Quartz is Pink Diamond after she rebelled against the gem society and threw away her name to distance herself from the class based system she thinks needs to change (<sidenote>very similar to a boy-centric franchise, hi transformers / james roberts</sidenote>).
This explains why an army of gems agrees to follow her, it’s due to her previous status as one of the rulers of gem society.
And yes, this would make Steven a Prince. Considering his nature he will bring balance and peace to gem society.
This is actually a pretty common theory from what I’ve seen actually. It’s been around quite some time now.
